    Dr. Avik Bhattacharya

  • Avik Bhattacharya, Associate professor in CSRE, IIT Bombay. His main research areas are SAR Polarimetry (Pol-SAR), SAR Interferometry (InSAR), Polarimetric SAR Interferometry (PolinSAR), Statistical modeling of Multi-Frequency and Multi-Polarization SAR Amplitude/Intensity images, Image Processing, statistical pattern recognition and Machine Learning. He did his masters in mathematics at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, PhD Jointly at the Department of Traitement et Interprétation des Images (Image Processing and Understanding), Télécom ParisTech, Paris, France and INRIA, ARIANA Project Group, Sophia Antipolis, France. He worked three years in Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

    Dr. Gulab Singh

  • Gulab Singh, Assistant professor in CSRE, IIT Bombay. His main research areas are Remote sensing of cryosphere components, snow and glacier parameters retrieval algorithm/methodology development using SAR interferometry and SAR polarimetry techniques, EM wave propagation in snow/ice/vegetation, development of radar polarimetry theory and polarimetric scattering theory, target decomposition model development, 3D and 4D SAR tomography, ionospheric effects on PolSAR, monitoring the natural and man-made disaster damages using PolSAR.

    Dr. G.Venkataraman

  • G.Venkataraman, Adjunct Professor in CSRE, IIT Bombay and head of this group. He received the M.Sc (Applied Geology) degree in 1971 and PhD in 1976 from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He has 36 years of experience in the field of optical and microwave remote sensing. Guided over 10 postgraduate students for PhD and M.Tech dissertations. Published over 30 papers in peer reviewed journals, 30 papers in International conference proceedings and 10 papers in books and special volumes, International Encyclopedia. He carried out about 20 research projects. He is a member of Several national and international Societies including IEEE. He received Academic Excellence award of Defense Research & Development Organization from our Hon'ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, on 12 May 2008.

    Dr. Alok Porwal

  • Alok Porwal, Associate Professor in CSRE, IIT Bombay. Adjunct Research Associate Professor in University of Western Australia and University of Queensland. He is an expert on uranium prospectivity analysis under International Atomic Energy Agency. His current research interest is in Mineral systems studies and mineral exploration, Gold, uranium, and nickel mineral systems using Machine learning algorithms (fuzzy, neural networks and hybrid neuro-fuzzy systems), Multispectral and hyper-spectral remote sensing (optical and thermal regions) techniques. He got Best Reviewer Award for the International Journal of Mathematical Geosciences in 2009. The Netherlands Government fellowship (NFP) for doctoral research at International Institute for Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Enschede, The Netherlands (1999). Rajasthan University gold medal at MSc (1986).
